Laser Hair Removal Aftercare: What to Do After Your Session

Post-laser skin care is important for your safety and comfort, as well as for the success of your laser hair removal course. After a laser hair removal session — especially on a sensitive area — it is normal to feel a warmth or tingling sensation in the area, similar to mild sun exposure. Your skin may be slightly red or flushed.

Immediately after your session:

  • Apply a cooling gel or aloe vera to soothe the treated area if needed
  • Keep the skin clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily
  • Apply SPF 50 broad-spectrum sunscreen on any exposed treated areas — this is mandatory, not optional

In the 24–48 hours after treatment:

  • Avoid heat exposure — no sauna, steam room, hot baths, or intense exercise. Heat and sweat can irritate freshly treated follicles
  • Avoid tight clothing on the treated area if it feels sensitive
  • Do not use perfumed products, AHAs, retinoids, or exfoliating acids on the treated area immediately after — these can cause irritation
  • Do not sunbathe or use sunbeds

In the days and weeks between sessions:

  • Shaving only — do not wax, thread, epilate, or use depilatory creams. These methods remove the hair root, which the laser needs to be present for effective targeting
  • Keep skin well hydrated — use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser daily
  • Continue applying SPF 50 daily to treated areas, especially on the face and neck
  • The treated hairs will gradually shed over 5–14 days — do not pull or pick them out

Long-term maintenance:

After completing your full course of sessions, you may need 1–2 top-up sessions per year — particularly for hormonal areas like the face, chin, and bikini line. Hormonal changes can reactivate some follicles over time.

At SATORI Clinics, our specialists provide full aftercare guidance at every session. If you have any concerns between appointments, our team is available to advise you.
